How do I add items by scanning product barcodes?

Barcode scanning is currently in beta.

If you'd like to help us test barcode scanning, you can join the beta testing program for our iOS app or our Android app.

Following the beta period, some aspects of barcode scanning may require an AnyList Complete subscription.

Current Limitations:
  • Only supported in the United States
  • Non-food items are not recognized

You can easily add products to your shopping list by scanning the barcode on the product package.

  1. Tap the Add Item bar to activate it.

  2. Tap the Scan Barcode icon to open the barcode scanner.

  3. Position the product barcode in the barcode alignment guide; the scan will complete and show the product details.

    To immediately add the item to your shopping list and continue scanning:

    1. Tap the Add Item button.

    To edit the item details before adding the item to your shopping list:

    1. Tap the Edit Item button to open the New Item screen.

    2. Update any information you choose on the New Item screen and tap the Add button when you’re done.

  4. The item will now be added to your shopping list and you will see the green Item Added confirmation.

  5. When you are done scanning items, tap the Done button to return to your shopping list where the newly added items will appear.
